Right Choice

Location

Location can have a dramatic effect on the number of young people using the service. The space should be of an adequate size with comfortable seating and a good range of information that young people can collect. It should also be acceptable that young people are able to come in to browse if this doesn’t interrupt any confidential conversations taking place with other students. Ideally the room should have a confidential area as well as a welcome/reception area.

Having a dedicated space can be difficult in a school.  Not having space or a room for a ‘drop-in’ should not be barrier to provision as professionals can be located in multiple places on a school site.
