St John Ambulance (2009-2016)
St. John Ambulance have been working with Wiltshire schools to increase the numbers of childen and young people who have learnt first aid skills.
Addional support was provided to many schools undertaking Healthy Schools Plus, building the capacity of teachers to deliver first aid training in schools.
Fewer than one in ten people have been trained in first aid. St. John Ambulance wants every young person to have the opportunity to learn basic life saving skills at school.
They have developed a range of resources to help with the teaching of first aid in schools which will inspire children to want to learn more. Many of these resources can be downloaded from the St John Ambulance website and are free of charge. There is something for every age group, from pre-school upwards. Take a look at the the St John Ambulance website. https://www.sja.org.uk/sja/default.aspx
During 2016 Wiltshire Council worked with St John Ambulance to provide more first aid training in the community, including free training in selected schools.
This offer was for 1-hour taster sessions for five classes of 30 pupils per class, on the same day, working to the school timetable.
