Big Talk Education (2014-2016)

BigTalk Education has been working with Wiltshire Healthy Schools to help keep primary school pupils safe from abuse and exploitation.

During March 2014 we offered 2 training days for primary school teachers with Big Talk Education using new resources to help ensure Relationships and Sex Education is child safety centred. This training was also attended by staff working in special schools. An additional session was provided during February 2015.

Participants attending these Wiltshire courses receive the "Growing Up Safe" pack of cards to use in their own school with pupils from Reception to Yr6 as well as "Bodies, Babies and Bellybuttons" for parents and children from 4 years old.

The training day covered;

  • Re-thinking approaches to SRE, making it child safety centred
  • Keeping parents and carers on-board and involved
  • The impact of the internet and social media on children
  • New resources that address this challenge in a happy, cheerful way!

The 'Growing Up Safe' cards were also provided for Wiltshire primary teachers who attended RSE training during 2016 delivered by Brook
