Kaleidoscope (archive)

Please note: This historic PSHE education scheme of work no longer meets current national requirements and has not been updated since it was first published over a decade ago. Although they remain online as an archive, many of the lesson plans would need significamt adaptation for use in schools today.

This resource (at the time of publication) offered a full programme of learning for KS3, with detailed lesson plans and resources, which could be adopted or integrated into existing school provision. It contained structured coverage of the essentials of PSHE education and linked this coherently with the intended learning outcomes of the SEAL programme.

It took its structure from the Key Concepts of the (former) QCA programme of study for Personal Wellbeing, with Economic Wellbeing and Financial Capability represented explicitly in one strand as well as being integrated across the whole programme.

The six themes were: Personal Identity, Your Money and Your Life, Relationships, Diversity, Health Matters and Risk.

Kaleidoscope (2010) was developed in collaboration between the Local Authorities of Bournemouth, Dorset, Poole and Wiltshire.

Wiltshire secondary schools were originally provided with a hard copy of this resource, in three ringbinders, as well as an electronic version on DVD, which is reproduced below.
