Youth Mental Health First Aid

Youth Mental Health First Aid training is an internationally recognised programme designed to promote awareness of psychological and emotional well-being and mental health and to support professionals to recognise and respond to mental health issues in 8-18 year olds.

Wiltshire Council are able to offer this training at a reduced rate, compared to most other national providers, with discounts for those that work with Wiltshire young people. 

Key areas covered within this course include:

Emotional, mental, social and psychological well-being
Eating disorders, Self Harm, Suicide
Child, adolescent and family psychosocial development
Depression, Anxiety, Psychosis
Bullying, cyber bullying
Promoting protective factors and good parenting.

The Youth MHFA course will teach you how to:
• Recognise the early signs of a mental health problem in young people
• Feel confident helping a young person experiencing a mental health problem
• Guide a young person towards the right support

 

Become Youth Mental Health Aware (1/2 day course), valued at £125, is subsidised for Wiltshire schools by Wiltshire Council.  

Cost for Wiltshire schools £70. 

Cost for staff beyond Wiltshire: £125.

 

Become a Youth Mental Health First Aid Champion (1 day course), valued at £200, is subsidised for Wiltshire schools by Wiltshire Council.  

Cost for Wiltshire schools £75. 

Cost for staff from beyond Wiltshire £150.

 

Become a Youth Mental Health First Aider (2 day course), valued at £325, is subsidised for Wiltshire schools by Wiltshire Council.  

Cost for Wiltshire schools £100. 

Cost for staff from beyond Wiltshire £200.

Schools may request a 1/2 day course to be held at their school, if they can ensure that 10-16 people can attend (Wiltshire schools @ £700, out of county schools @ £1400 per course)

Schools may request a 1 day course to be held at their school, if they can ensure that 10-16 people can attend (Wiltshire schools @ £800, out of county schools @ £1600 per course)

Schools may request a 2 day course to be held at their school, if they can ensure that 10-16 people can attend (Wiltshire schools @ £1200, out of county schools @ £2400 per course)

Other organisations can also request training.

YMHFA training is delivered to several Wiltshire Council teams as well as a range of external organisations in Wiltshire.

Become Youth Mental Health Aware - half day course (online) @ £70 per person

Become a Youth Mental Health First Aid Champion - 1 day course (face to face) @ £75 per person
