Theatre in Education (anti-bullying) Wiltshire offer

Friday 15th September 2023

Wiltshire schools can book between September - November 2023, which will tie in with Anti-Bullying Week.

"Hope" is the story of a beautiful and successful pop star returning to the town where she grew up for the first time in years. A chance encounter between her and an old school acquaintance brings back painful memories of her childhood and the systematic abuse and bullying she suffered at the hands of a classmate. It is a story of courage, self-empowerment and redemption.

The play, with versions suitable for KS2 - KS4, is expertly delivered by professional actors, is informative, thought-provoking and entertaining. There are optional supporting workshops and exclusive Wiltshire prices.

This flyer includes information on the show and discounted prices available to all schools within Wiltshire.

'Hope' Testimonials

'Our pupils very clearly took away some strong messages from the play.  A great storyline, enthusiastic acting and a great use of humour all helped to engage the pupils throughout.  We would definitely recommend, and be happy to use the company again.'

Amy Stronach-Maw, English Martyrs Primary School - Sunderland

'The children thoroughly enjoyed the performance.  The issues were relevant and the children could relate to them.  It was nice that it included humour and more serious issues.  Throughout the workshops, the children were engaged and were able to make their own choices.  It was a nice opportunity to think about why bullies treat others badly.'

Rebecca Copas - Horsenden Primary School, Ealing

'Just wanted to say a massive thank you for this morning! The children and staff absolutely loved it and got so much from it! So, thank you for providing an exciting and educating Thursday morningat Oak Lodge!'

Charlotte Hunt, Oak Lodge School, Hampshire

"We were incredibly lucky to share the Hope show and workshop with our second level pupils.  The show was cleverly pitched at showing the multi and complex layers of bullying from the point of view of the pupil, the bully, the teachers and those that stand alongside the bully.  On the back of this workshop and show the children had a lot of deep conversation around the wider impacts of bullying and I also received a great deal of positive comments from parents/carers who told me about conversations their children had had with them at home following this show."

Natasha O'Connor, HT at Aberlady Primary School - East Lothian

"The 'Hope' Performance was engaging and presented a clear message suited for the age range. It highlighted the key themes associated with bullying and really made our children think about the impact of their actions and the actions of others. The workshop was the perfect length of time, and involved and included the children effectively.”

Louse Bennett, Principal Teacher at Whitdale Primary School - West Lothian

"The performance of ‘Hope’ for our P4-P7 classes was fantastic. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience with the hard hitting messages  being delivered in such a relevant and current context for them to reflect on. This is the second production we’ve had as a school and it certainly won’t be the last."

Julie Fleming, HT at Barassie Primary School - South Ayrshire

'Powerful, effective and important messages throughout.  Strong emotive performances by a very skilled cast.  Great starting point to have important discussions in class."

Jonathan Cunningham, HT at Knightswood Primary School - Glasgow

“’Hope’ was a very clever show, I was amazed at just how much you were able to cover while still being very entertaining. It was heart-warming and funny, the right amount of shock factor to capture everyone’s attention and it felt very fresh. It was good to see real life issues that reflect the reality of our children. The workshops were well led and were also very valuable in consolidating what we had seen, and you incorporated a lot of the messages and values our school tries to promote.  I would highly recommend ’Hope’ to other schools and I feel it would be well received across Fife.”

Tammy Marr, Teacher at Benarty Primary School - Fife

"The show was excellent!  Pupils from P4-P7 were seated around the hall, allowing them to feel very much a part of the performance.  From the start, the children were mesmerised.  It was funny and entertaining, which made its hard hitting message even more effective.  The show examined many aspects of bullying and why bullying may happen.  This facilitated a lot of discussion in the classroom after.  Many staff commented that it was the best in-school theatre show we have ever had.  I would highly recommend this to any school looking for a vehicle from which to explore bullying and social media.”

Hilary Lynas, Teacher at St Patrick's Primary School, Coatbridge - North Lanarkshire
