Support for Wiltshire schools to prevent extremism

Thursday 25th June 2015

Workshop to Raise Awareness around PREVENT (WRAP 3)

Train the trainer sessions

Multi-agency Train the Trainer sessions are being rolled out to introduce the WRAP 3 Training. Training materials will be provided as part of the session, which is intended to equip staff to be able to deliver the training within their organisations. This is new statutory duty for schools (Keeping Children Safe in Education 2015) effective from July 2015

Prevent is about stopping people being drawn into extremism and becoming terrorists. Practitioners working with young people may well become aware of changes and signs that might indicate the early stages of vulnerability to extremism.  Extremism in itself is not illegal but practitioners need to be aware of potential signs that may be part of a pathway to terrorism.  WRAP 3 training is a general awareness course that will enable practitioners to recognise signs, and to know what action to take in response to concerns.

The sessions will be held across the county at the following dates and times. This is a Train the Trainer session, so those attending will be expected to be in a position to deliver to staff within their organisation.
