Local Prevent education group and new national guidance

Wiltshire and Swindon Prevent Education Sub Group

Wiltshire are looking for designated safeguarding lead representatives to take part in a pan-Wiltshire Prevent education sub group. The group will be taking place twice yearly (on Microsoft Teams) and will be an opportunity for updates on Prevent, additional training and a forum to ask questions on the key themes seen locally.

The first meeting will be held on Tuesday 6th December from 9.00am – 10.30am on Microsoft Teams.

Prevent duty – new guidance

The Department for Education have published new guidance relating to the Prevent duty to support designated safeguarding leads (DSLs) working in education settings.

A self-assessment tool has also been published to help schools review their responsibilities under the Prevent duty.

Information about how to make a referral about a child, young person, or vulnerable adult at risk of being drawn into extremism is also available.
