Young Pioneers - the voice of young people with SEND

Wednesday 6th December 2023

Wiltshire Centre for Independent Living (Wiltshire CIL) are leading on an exciting project for SEND Young People in Wiltshire and have a message for education providers:

We work with young people as Young Pioneers, supporting them to make meaningful connections, share their views on topics important to them, and co-produce with services from the start! This work is in conjunction with Wiltshire Council.

We want to give a HUGE thank you to the 250+ young people that have been part of the feedback and Pioneers in 2023. Gratitude too, to the settings involved since January 2023.

We are now widening the age range. We will be looking for feedback, involvement and co-production with Children & Young people age 5+. And, as part of this project, we would like to come and capture the voice of the Young People with SEND/Additional Needs, (regardless whether diagnosed).

**Resource Bases/Hubs/Alternative provisions – Invite us to your setting so we can capture and share the important views of your young people!!**

In order to do this, we would like to visit you at your setting, either with young people individually, or as a group – we are flexible. We would like to do this x1/term.

We are happy to meet young people with staff, if that best suits the young person. Additionally, we all have Enhanced DBS checks, which we can bring to the sessions.

We encourage young people to share their views in the way that best meets their needs – and we can film/record/write/draw etc. Where any filming is considered, we would request consent, from the young person and their parent/carer. This can be shared in advance.

Your involvement to enable young people to share their voice is invaluable and we appreciate your co-operation in making this happen.
