Wiltshire Mental Health Support Teams for schools and colleges

Friday 13th September 2019

Wiltshire Council is pleased to confirm that Wiltshire (with BaNES) has been confirmed as a trailblazer site for the delivery of Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) from January 2020. At this time, the new Education Mental Health Practitioners will commence their training.

Our bid, was for funding to support 3 teams in Wiltshire. Whilst we have been successful in this process, the NHS England allocation is for two teams only. The schools and colleges which are able to receive additional support, from these teams, have been contacted during the last week. These settings include some (but not all) primary and secondary schools and colleges in Salisbury, Devizes, Trowbridge and Westbury,

We will be bidding for greater coverage across the county at the next opportunity.

  • New resource will come directly into schools/colleges to support mental health and wellbeing. It is additional support for education settings.
  • A new Project Lead has been appointed by Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and will be in post by October.
