September is Recovery Month
Monday 1st September 2025
September is Recovery Month, a time to increase awareness, challenge stigma, and celebrate the success of those in recovery from all addictive behaviours, including drug and alcohol use and gambling.
Drug and Alcohol Awareness Training
To support this, Wiltshire Connect Substance Use Service offers monthly drug and alcohol awareness sessions online on the first Tuesday of every month. These sessions provide an introduction to substance use and available treatment options. Additionally, the service is offering an Alcohol Awareness, Identification and Brief Advice training session on Tuesday 7th October 9.30-12.00.
The training aims to:
- Increase awareness of the effects, harms and risks of alcohol use
- Provide an overview of the national and local impact of problematic alcohol use
- Help identify signs and symptoms of problematic alcohol use
- Build confidence in delivering brief interventions with individuals - the kind of conversations professionals can have to reduce harm from alcohol and encourage engagement and treatment
- Share guidance on how and when to refer someone to the Connect service
To book your place on either session, please email connectreferrals@turning-point.co.uk.
