Right Choice

Senior mental health lead training

Wednesday 13th October 2021

In the last few days the grant application system has gone live.

Schools and colleges who booked their place on either of the Wiltshire courses early (on or before the application system being launched on 11 October 2021), in order to be guaranteed a grant, must submit their application by 25 October 2021.

Over the weekend there was an IT fault affecting a number of DfE forms but this is now resolved. If any schools or colleges received an error message or aren’t able to access the form, please contact the DfE via the ESFA enquiry form

To access your grant you must book on an approved course, for example the ones delivered by B&NES, Swindon or Wiltshire here.

You can apply for your grant here

Please note; after applying for your grant you may be promoted to apply for a course with a message saying "You can now choose your training" using the DfE national course finder. This happens as the DfE don't know that you may have already booked a place. If you have already booked for a course on Right Choice, you don't need to book another. Just keep the proof of your booking to be provided on request.

You must book your training to start within the 2021 to 2022 financial year and return to the form to send the DfE your evidence of booking. You will be contacted when it is time to do this, but you should have your evidence ready within six weeks of receiving confirmation of your place from the application form. If you do not do this, your grant will not be paid and your application will become invalid and you will need to re-apply to receive a grant.

Wiltshire schools booking a place will receive an automated confirmation from the Right Choice system as well as an email from Nick Bolton, with the correct course code to use.

The guarantee to reserve a grant for those booking a course early has now ended. Sufficient grants are available for around a third of all state schools and colleges this financial year, as part of the government’s commitment to offer this training to all eligible schools and colleges by 2025.

Grants will be allocated on a first come, first served basis until all available funds have been issued.
