Wiltshire Council Public Health and School Effectiveness teams are pleased to share an updated Drug Policy Guidance, designed to help keep pupils safe, healthy, and supported. This practical new resource brings together the latest national advice and local expertise to help schools prevent and respond to drug-related issues with confidence.

The guidance includes:

  • Clear steps for managing incidents safely and consistently
  • Advice on effective, evidence-based drug education within PSHE/RSHE
  • Trauma-informed approaches that reduce stigma and support pupil wellbeing
  • Local pathways for early intervention, safeguarding, and specialist help
  • Flow charts, template policies, and quick-reference tools for staff

Developed with partners including Wiltshire Police, Public Health, the School Aged Nursing Service and local Substance Use Services, the guidance ensures schools have coordinated, up-to-date support.
