Launch of Wiltshire Healthy Schools

Wednesday 2nd May 2012

This week schools have attended initial training for the new Wiltshire Healthy Schools programme. Around 1/4 of Wiltshire schools have already signed up to begin working towards the Bronze or Silver level.

There will be another opportunity for schools to join the programme in September.

The new local programme, which builds on the previous national programme, enables schools to demonstrate their ongoing commitment to health and wellbeing and keep the school's Healthy Schools Status up to date.

"Children and young people in healthy schools tell us that they feel healthier, happier and safer. Their parents tell us they feel more involved in their child's health and learning and often feel better themselves.

Schools tell us that the National Healthy Schools Programme has brought sustained imnprovement in behaviour, standards of work and school management".
