Exam season and anxiety

Friday 20th June 2025

Exam season

This can be a challenging time for young people. Many feel stressed in the lead-up to their exams and worried in anticipation of their results.

As adults, it can be difficult to know what we can do to support children and young people during this time.

Place2Be has a range of free resources for students, parents and carers to help navigate exam season.

As the end of term approaches and the to-do lists grow, it’s easy for all focus to shift to finishing up before your well-earned summer break. But with a little forward planning, you can set yourself and your students up for a calmer, more positive start to the new term.

Anna Freud has a range of resources to help you get ahead with wellbeing support for both you and your students - so September feels a little less daunting.

Lets talk about anxiety

Anxiety is a normal emotion – it’s one of our body’s natural reactions to stress.

For young people, some level of anxiety is normal as they grow up and learn to navigate the world.  However, it’s important that they have the tools to manage feelings of anxiety, and can tell the difference between normal emotions and more severe anxiety which is interfering with their everyday life.

The animation below, and free accompanying resources, will help students aged 11 to 13 to normalise, understand and manage anxious feelings.
