Eat Like a Champ

Thursday 1st May 2014

Danone have kindly agreed to make available hard copies of all the resource packs for Wiltshire schools that sign up to this campaign, rather than use the usual self printed materials.

Eat Like A Champ is a free healthy eating education programme aimed at year 5 primary school children. The aim of the campaign is to tackle the issue of poor nutrition and obesity amongst children through six specially tailored lessons about healthy eating.

This programme aims to make healthy eating exciting, and inspire children to adopt the healthy choices of champions they admire; in this case, former Blue Peter presenter and multiple Guinness World Record holder Helen Skelton. Research by the Children’s Food Trust noted children taking part in the programme shifted their behaviour towards healthier eating habits.

Wiltshire schools can sign up to the Eat Like a Champ programme via the website http://www.eatlikeachamp.co.uk/

The content of Eat Like A Champ was written in collaboration with the British Nutrition Foundation to ensure the lessons are of a high standard and can be used to complement your school’s existing Healthy Schools work around Healthy Weight, including teaching about healthy eating using our Wiltshire PSHE Education scheme of work Learn 4 Life.
