Check it Out - new local website for young people

Thursday 16th March 2023

The Youth and Early Intervention Team and the Office for the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) have set up a new Youth Website called “Check it Out”.

This site is attached to the OPCC Website. We think that this website may be beneficial to either your staff, or the young people that you work with. Here is a brief overview of what it is:

“Check it Out” is a new Youth Website designed to provide information on a range of subjects for children and young people aged 5 to 16 years old. The site includes information on Anti-Social Behaviour, Safe Strangers for primary ages, to Grooming and Exploitation for young people up to secondary school age.

Additionally, there are pages linking to help and support provided by other agencies and charities, within the Swindon and Wiltshire Area.

“Policing and You” provides information on specific Police roles, along with advice on career options within the Police and what Wiltshire Police offer in terms of young people’s programmes. Within this section are links to how the Police can help you in different ways and who you can go to if you can’t or don’t want to talk to the Police. https://crimestoppers-uk.org/fearless is a non-judgemental site specifically for young people to find out more information on crime and criminality. It’s also a brilliant site to be able to report information anonymously at any time.

If you have any questions, please direct them to the Youth Swindon inbox: YouthSwindon@wiltshire.police.uk
