Are you ready for winter?

Monday 2nd October 2017

The winter months are just around the corner and being prepared is crucial in managing additional health pressures.  We are course referring to the usual flu and norovirus that have a tendency to be more prevalent during the winter months.  Wiltshire Council has been working with Public Health England and other partners to produce a winter readiness pack to support schools and nurseries this winter.

Winter Readiness Pack for Schools and Nurseries can be found here:

https://www.england.nhs.uk/south/info-professional/public-health/infection-winter/

This contains:
 - A Cover letter to the School Head/Nursery Manager
- Checklists for preparedness for flu and norovirus
- Leaflets and posters on flu, norovirus and hand hygiene
- The Spotty Book - This is a very practical guide on how to recognise, report and control common infectious diseases in schools and nurseries.   It also highlights the importance of good infection control and vaccination.  This is an update of versions circulated previously in Devon, Cornwall, Isles of Scilly and Somerset.

-   Links to other useful infection control and health protection websites

We hope that you find these resources useful and your feedback is always welcome. If you have any questions, you can contact the Health Protection Team on Fiona.neely@phe.gov.uk.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support with delivery of the flu vaccination programme and winter preparedness.
