Friday 5th August 2016

Wiltshire Council are working with the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust to develop a programme of mental health support and cpd for Wiltshire schools during 2016 & 2017, details of which will be posted here in September 2016.

The CWMT have just launched the pilot phase of a free mental health book club for schoolsworking in partnership with Jessica Kingsley Publishers.

More details from CWT about this new book club below:

Who is it for?

The book club is primarily aimed at, but not exclusively for, mental health leads in UK primary or secondary schools, but others are welcome to join.

What can I expect?

Once a term you will receive a book and associated resources with the aim of boosting your understanding, skills, confidence or ideas when working to promote or support the mental health of children and young people.

For an idea of the kind of books you can expect, take a look at:
Book catalogue for those working with under 11s
Book catalogue for those working with over 11s

In addition to a termly book we hope to provide accompanying resources and online cpd opportunities.

When will I get my first book?

We hope to achieve the critical mass need to share our first book by Christmas 2016

What do you expect from me?

Before we dispatch each book club title, we’ll ask you to opt in to receive the new title, to ensure we spend the charity’s funds most usefully.

For each book you receive, we will also ask you to complete a short online survey to help us assess the impact that the book and associated resources has had on your skills, understanding and confidence.

This sounds too good to be true

Yes. I know.. but it is true!  And did you know that the CWMT provide fully funded staff, student and parent workshops and training on a range of mental health issues too?
